This website is not primarily financially driven. We put it up in 2023 to build an awareness, offer support, and hopefully cover expenses for our event.
Regardless, beginning December 1, 2009, the FTC requires us to disclose whenever there could be hidden interests or unspoken biases related to recommendations. So here goes…
First, the obvious: We are promoting an event that we believe to be of great benefit to our communities.
Second, the less obvious: Per the FTC rules, if we interview someone and they grab the bill for lunch, we would need to disclose this. Ditto if we use an Amazon link that gets us 8 cents instead of an Amazon link that gets us 0 cents. If someone gives us a comfy t-shirt with a logo and we wear it in a photo, same deal. Disclaimers all over the place. This would be tedious for us and even more tedious for you. But rules is rules. To cover our butts and preserve your website experience, please assume that, for every link and event we promote, the following all hold true:
