Scott’s Transformation Story
In 1993 I said yes to God in response to His invitation to step into a three month interim pastor position at what was called Jackson Hole Christian Center, which later became River Crossing, and is currently a Gateway church campus.
It was so awesome! So exciting to see God work in people’s hearts.
Nine months later this assignment came to an end. Yes, some disappointment came with it.
After two years in the crucible, Laurie and I moved to Teton Valley to plant a church called Teton Valley Christian Center which became The Summit.
Again, it was a great adventure with Jesus. So many awesome things the Lord did!
Fifteen years later this assignment ended and in 2011 we took a long, unplanned sabbatical from church leadership.
Eleven years long!
We didn’t really know the extent of our burnout, or why we were needing a lot of recovery time.
Disillusionment with the Church set in as I sat on the bench. Yes, there were “church wounds” we both incurred over the years. But even worse was seeing others wounded by church leadership, including from me. Ouch!
Then it happened. I woke up from a God dream the morning of January 15, 2022. A dream about “Preparing the Entrance to the House of the Author of Life”.
This was the beginning of something completely new with God. Like Gandalf stopped by the hobbit Bilbo baggies house, the Holy Spirit invited us on an adventure to discover treasures new and old.
Long story short, we said “yes”. And what an adventure it has already been… in just over a year.
Personally, I had lost my first love. Not for Jesus, but for His Church. This love has been restored with a new church paradigm, while treasuring the old!
My Joy level was at an all time low.
Presently, I haven’t had this much Joy since the early years when I got ”born again” and filled with the Holy Spirit!
I am so grateful. Laurie is right here with me.
What has happened so far has been transformational! Divine heart to heart connections, miracles, a Kingdom Family, new growth, heart healing, and emotional intelligence to name a few.
Emotional intelligence? Yup. This is a big one for me. I realized I have struggled with developing heart to heart relationships, including with my one flesh bride.
One of the awesome things we’re learning along the way is how to step into appreciation and gratitude. The result is an expanded capacity for Joy and Peace, encountering the living interactive presence of Jesus, and for those like us who need it, healing of our “heart wounds.”
But I won’t tire you with the details right now, because I’m more interested in your story.
What’s going inside your heart? Are you sensing God is up to something big, or at least hoping He is up to something big?
Are you longing for something “more”? I hope so!
The on ramp for me was something called Church 101, a six week course offered at no cost that equipped me for the harvest. It is transformational.
If you’re ready and God is promoting you, schedule an introductory Zoom meeting to find out if Church 101 is the next best step for you right now.
